The article comprehensively examines the issue of efficient use of organic waste and the importance of vermicompost obtained from their processing in agriculture. Currently in Kazakhstan a significant amount of organic waste (cattle manure, food waste, plant residues, etc.) is accumulated, the disposal of most of which without processing poses an environmental threat. In this regard, the production of vermicompost is presented as an innovative and environmentally friendly method aimed at saving natural resources, restoring soil fertility and increasing agricultural productivity. The article describes the stages of vermicomposting technology, biological and technical requirements for its implementation. Based on scientific data, the efficiency of processing organic waste by worms, the agronomic value of the resulting vermicompost and its impact on the soil are described. The potential and main problems of vermicompost production development in Kazakhstan, regulatory and infrastructural restrictions are analyzed. The study is based on a literature review.
