Abstract

Tests were conducted to assess the wash fastness of ZnO nanoparticle (ZnO-NP) modified cotton fabric. The antibacterial properties of the treated samples were evaluated using the disk diffusion method against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The results demonstrated that the treated materials exhibited bactericidal activity against each type of microorganism and were able to inhibit bacterial growth. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis showed that the distribution of zinc oxide particles was relatively uneven, however, the ZnO-NP modified cotton fabric retained its antibacterial properties even after five washing cycles. These findings indicate the promising potential of zinc oxide nanoparticles for the development of antibacterial textile materials.
