The article considers the issues of reducing the risk of structural deformations and increasing the operational reliability of buildings and structures in the conditions of complex engineering and geological conditions of the southern regions of Kazakhstan. The article presents the results of a study of the state of building structures and soils of two comprehensive schools under construction that have identical engineering and geological conditions to assess the impact of design solutions for the basement of the building on the deformability of the soil foundation. A number of recommendations are proposed to ensure the operational suitability of school buildings and eliminate the identified deviations from design solutions, as well as damage to foundations and basement walls.
