Abstract

Currently, one of the most pressing problems is environmental pollution, especially the increase in hazardous pollutants contained in wastewater from treatment plants. In this study, corn biochar (CB600C) was obtained from agricultural-industrial waste (corn cob) by chemical activation method. A detailed description carried out by methods such as Sam, TGA, bat, FT-IR, particle size analyzer analysis, elemental carbon analysis confirmed that it converts stable organic pollutants, including microplastics, into a material that can effectively retain water. The efficiency of the obtained CB600C material was evaluated using corn biochar in the removal of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pollutant in the adsorption process. The results obtained indicate that CB600C material from agricultural-industrial waste has a high potential for use in deep treatment of contaminated wastewater as an environmentally safe, easy catalyst.
